WW2 Early US M3 Fighting Knife Blade Manufacturer Marked Imperial & M8 Scabbard With Integral Frog By BM Co (Beckwith manufacturing Company). Sn 16136 - 16136 An original WW2 early US M3 fighting knife and M8 scabbard with integral frog. It has an undamaged 6 ½” blade which has just staining consistent with age. The blade is crisply marked 'USM3 IMPERIAL' (early M3 knives had manufacturer and model designation stamped on the blades. Later variants have those markings on the cross guard as it was believed stamping the blades risked weakening the steel) . The leather ringed handle is undamaged and has just light service wear to be expected. It has a steel cross guard and pommel. The knife is complete with it's original green plastic M8 scabbard with integral green webbing frog which has a single retaining strap and press stud fastener. (United States Navy) has a heavy steel pommel secured by 2 pins (1st types had a threaded pommel nut, see page 86 of ‘U.S Military Knives by Cole’. This is a very good original example of the 2nd type WW2 Fighting Knife made by Conetta in its scabbard. The grip is constructed of the correct compressed laminated leather washers with correct 2nd type steel pommel secured at the butt by 2 pins. The blackened hilt is clean and undamaged condition. It has a steel cross guard and a 7' parkerised bowie blade. The cross guard is crisply stamped with manufacturer details 'US Conetta’. RARE, Early Production WW2 U.S. M3 Fighting Knife By Imperial & Correct WW2 M6 Leather Scabbard By Moose Both With Frankford Arsenal Marks. Sn 15912 - 15912 The M3 Trench Fighting Knife was introduced in 1943. M3 knives were produced by a number of American Manufacturers including Imperial. Early production knives were made with model, manufacturer and date marked blades. Knives with blades marked in that manner were only produced for 2 months before manufacture changed to marking the cross guards rather than the blade to prevent causing weakness to the blades. M6 Leather scabbards were produced in 1943 for the M3 Trench daggers. These leather scabbards were only made in small numbers before introduction of the M8 scabbard. This is a very good, original & rare WW2 early production American M3 Fighting knife. It has steel cross guard and the steel pommel is stamped with the Frankford arsenal ‘ignited grenade’ mark. The handle has the correct compressed leather washer construction. Its 6 ¾” long blade is undamaged. The blade is stamped 'US M3 Imperial’ (there is no visible date mark). The knife is complete with its original rare brown leather M6 Scabbard. The scabbard is undamaged and all of its rivets & stitching are intact. It has a single belt loop & retaining strap with press stud fastener. The throat has the correct row of 8 reinforcing steel ‘laces’. The lower section of the scabbard has the correct riveted steel plates to the front and back. The bottom of the scabbard is holed for thigh cord with reinforcing ring. The front of the scabbard is impressed with manufacturer detail which appears to be ‘Moose’ & 'US M6’ together with Frankford Arsenal mark. Sn 15911 - 15911 This is an original WW2 era Ka-Bar fighting knife & Scabbard. This example is in very good condition. The grip is constructed of the correct compressed smooth leather washers, correct finger guard and has a steel pommel. The blade is stamped ‘KA-BAR Olean NY’’ on one side and ‘USN’ on the reverse. It has a 7” bowie blade with fullers. The blade has just light staining consistent with use. It is complete with its correct grey plastic scabbard with integral webbing frog and retaining strap with press stud fastener. WW2 US Army Airforce Cattaraugus Folding Survival / Fighting Machete & Original Tin Plate Blade Guard. Sn 15834 - 15834 This is an original American made folding machete / fighting knife by Cattaraugus. The U.S Army, folding survival machete was introduced in 1942 issued to U.S Air crew and originally carried folded in the seat pack attached to parachutes (see page 115 plates 579 & 580 of Stephens book ‘Fighting Knives’). Our example has its original tin plate blade cover which are often missing from these machetes. The machete measures 15 ½” extended & 11 ¼” folded. The 10” blade has some staining consistent with age & service use. The blade is marked by the American manufacturer 'Cattaraugus USA'. It's original riveted black slab grips are secure & undamaged. Sn 15372:12 - 15372:12 The American Company, Buck Knives was founded in San Diego, California in the early 1900's and is now located in Post Falls, Idaho. The company has a long history through five generations of the Buck family. Buck created their model 110 folding hunter in 1963 when Al Buck decided that a revolutionary lock blade knife was needed by outdoorsmen who wanted a sturdy knife but did not want to carry a long, fixed blade knife. This is an excellent limited edition Buck 110 folding hunter Custom Knife With Original Display Stand, Box and Paperwork. The folding lock knife has a 4” drop point blade. One side of the polished steel blade has a finger groove and is etched with the scene of ‘H.H. Buck’s original business premises and banner with ‘HH Buck’ emblazoned in gilt. The ricasso is marked ‘Buck 110 USA'. The reverse is numbered ‘0772 / 1500’. The knife’s undamaged American Walnut scales are secured by brass and steel pins. The knife has a brass grip frame. Opened the knife measures 9” overall length. The blade locks firmly in place and is released for closing by depression of a steel lever on the back of the grip frame. The knife is complete with it's original Buck wooden display stand which was issued with the knife. The stand has a recessed block to comfortably seat the knife’s butt and slotted block to accommodate the blade edge. The stand has a small plate labelled ‘Buck’ on the front and has 2 holes for wall hanging to the rear. The knife is accompanied by its original care instruction pamphlet and printed ‘Word From The Chairman Of Buck Knives’ leaflet. (Sn 14588:3 Daggers & Swords) - 14588:3 These heavy bladed bolo knife / machetes were issued to U.S. Marines Medical Corpsmen and were made by a number of American companies during WW2 (see page 41 of ‘U.S. Military Knives Book III’ by Cole). Our example is in excellent condition The blade is 11 ¼” long, 2 ¾” at its widest point and 16 ½” overall length. The heavy blade is ¼” thick and has just light areas of staining consistent with age. The blade is stamped by the American manufacturer ‘Village Blacksmith’ and ‘USMC’. The full tang hilt has undamaged maple wood scales secured by 4 rivets. The original correct heavy leather scabbard has a brass throat mount, rear leather tab secured by rivets and brass wire hanger. (Sn 14588:2 Daggers & Swords) - 14588:2 This is an original WW2 USMC Ka-bar Fighting Knife & Leather Scabbard (see pages 90 & 91 of Cole’s book U.S. Military Knives Book 3). This example has been contemporarily field converted. The conversion has shortened the original handle with compressed leather washers to 4 washers instead of 5 and the original steel pommel replaced by a brass pommel. The converted fighting knife fits the hand well. It’s 7” steel drop point blade has staining and stable areas of pitting consistent with age and service use. The blade has markings ‘KA-BAR’ on one side & ‘USMC’ on the reverse. It measures 11 ¼” overall length. WW1 1918, U.S. Army Model 1917 Machine Gunner’s Bolo Fighting Knife By A.C. Co Chicago & Scabbard. Sn 14557 - 14557 The model 1917 U.S. Machine Gunner’s bolo knife originated from the form of the Springfield 1903 pattern bolo bayonet, identical to the bayonet but without bayonet fittings (see page 66 plates 316 & 317 of Fighting Knives by Fred Stephens). The hilt is steel with contoured wood grips secured by 2 bolts. It has a contoured flat steel cross guard and heavy 10 ¼” bolo shaped blade ideal for cutting dense foliage and digging machine gun emplacements. The blade has staining consistent with age. The ricasso is stamped on one side ‘AC Co Chicago’ and dated ‘1918’. The reverse has model detail ‘Mod 1917’ and ‘U.S’ (U.S. Army) together with ‘CT’.
